Hello everyone! Here goes my first post on this blog. Let it be a little introduction on why I wanted to start blogging about my life's journey as an entrepreneur. Well, you could say that I have been through a hell lot these few years as an entrepreneur. I dived straight away intro entrepreneurship while I was still studying up until I graduated from my University.
These few years has been an eye opener for me. Life was full of uncertainty, ups and downs, got myself in crazy situations and well, let's just say that the whole journey has been nothing short of a tornado. My entrepreneurship journey started when I was just seven years old, being brought up and raised in a family of entrepreneurs, it was only the natural thing for me to have that entrepreneurial instinct even as a kid
Well, let us start on how my this crazy entrepreneurial journey of mine started.
When I was a kid, I used to travel a lot, I used to get a lot of gifts when I was young at that time too. Life was good, what do you then when you have a lot? You take advantage of it. I travelled a lot back then and bought a lot of items overseas that cannot be bought in my country. When I came back home, I sold everything that I have bought overseas, in fact I sold almost everything that was given to me as a gift too when I got bored of it.
Man life was good, I basically had zero cost for my products as the items I bought overseas was fully paid for either by my parents or my relatives(I was just a kid, a demanding one) and I get it sell it at a premium price and keep the sales all to myself. I was the go to guy if you wanted products that can only be bought overseas. I made good profits for myself(How could I not? Zero cost) and literally enjoyed the fruits of entrepreneurship(That's what I am gonna call it) at such a young age. However what does a young guy do when he has excess cash with him? He keeps it under his clothes in a drawer because he has no idea what to spend on and had everything he wanted already. This was indeed the good old days, I was able to buy any food or drinks that I wanted from the canteen without depending on the allowance that my mother gave me to eat.
Fast forward to a few years later and I was already a teenager in high school trying to survive and enjoy my student life at the same time. High school life was arguably the best moment in my life and something I would definitely wish to revisit again if i have had the chance to. Now, was I being very entrepreneurial here? Yup I sure did! Only this time my entrepreneurial activities were conducted mostly outside my school.
Everyone was crazy about Pokemon cards back then! What a crazy hit it was, It took the world by storm and everyone was just spending crazy money on it. Again, I was lucky to be able to have obtained a lot of booster packs(pokemon cards) for free. I had so many rare cards that I actually had to buy albums just to store them. However this time, I discovered a website from the United States that were selling rare Pokemon cards at a very cheap price as compared to the prices that they were selling here.
I remembered clearly, I only purchased Ancient Mew for a mere 50 cents USD whereby that particular card was selling for RM 50 in my country. Wow! What a good profit. I used my mother's credit card and straight away ordered 50 units of Ancient Mew and few more other rare Pokemon cards. Needless to say, I made a ton of money and yes... this time, I paid my mother back for using her credit card, If only I had a photo of her expression when she saw me paying her for what I purchased. She was rather...Speechless, her expression was indeed priceless. I felt good and naturally she allowed me to use her credit card for my second purchase of Pokemon cards online to resell as the first batch stock of rare Pokemon cards literally sold out within two days of their arrival.
My entire high school life was just about buying and selling Pokemon cards. I made extremely good profits in it and yeah, I was pretty good at playing the cards too. I once finished top 4 in a local competition in my area. I was a teenager that was able to buy anything that I wanted, I bought new futsal shoes, Badminton shoes, clothes that I wanted and yeah, toys. I felt amazing that I was able to purchase anything I wanted without having to ask my parents to do so for me. The feeling was exhilarating and I knew then that there was no way that I am going to be an employee(besides working for my family) and that I will set forth and achieve my goal as an entrepreneur!
It was a no brainer then that I decided to choose to study commerce in high school. I knew what I wanted and I will not stop until I got what I wanted! I wanted to be a successful entrepreneur and I have always imagined myself doing all sorts of business when I was already in high school. I couldn't wait to get out of high school and dived straight into college because I knew then I would have had the freedom and time to pursue my entrepreneurial activities.
Well, It's getting late, That's all for today. My next blog post will be talking about my entrepreneurial journey during my college/university days. The more I blog, the crazier it gets... Adios!
